Following up on my post about applying to Saint James School of Medicine, let me walk you through the interview process – a crucial step in the admissions journey.
My Interview Timeline
- February 17, 2022: Submitted online application
- February 22, 2022: Received interview invitation
- February 26, 2022: Completed interview
The Interview Format
Post-pandemic, SJSM conducts interviews through an online platform. My admissions advisor emphasized that the interview carries significant weight in the admission decision (which definitely added to my nerves!).
Key Interview Details
- 10 questions total
- Preparation time before each questions
- Up to four attempts per question
- Approximately 45 minutes to complete
- one week deadline from invitation to completion
My Strategy
As a full-time medical Speech-Language Pathologist at the time, I chose to:
- Schedule the interview for Saturday when I’d be less exhausted
- Maintain natural flow by not over-preparing for each question
- Skip re-recording options to preserve authenticity
- Treat it like a traditional interview to keep adrenaline and focus high
Technical Tips
Important lesson learned: Ensure your computer has adequate RAM! I encountered some nerve-wracking moments when my computer started warning about low storage near the end. While everything submitted successfully, it was a tense few minutes I could have avoided with better preparation.
